I was taking a stroll down the DTES today and I came across a development called "Paris" typical condo like development in the heat of the DTES. I though it was incredible they were calling it "Paris" when the neighbourhood its in is nothing like the glamour Paris would have. Im sure the development will end up looking nice by the end but it reminds you of the gentifrication thats going on that way and how people in the DTES live in two worlds the one they must live through everyday of pain, addiction and misery and the other of living in a fishbowl for the rest of the city to come and stare at.

Hmmm, I know that the DTES has it's challenges but to categorize the entire area as one living in constant pain and addiction might be an over simplification of the dynamics in that part of the city.
